Our God Reigns
“He shall reign forever and ever……” Rev. 11:15 “…the Lord of heaven…” Daniel 5:23
There’s a sign in front of a Church in Buna that reads: “Our God Reigns”…we see it every time we drive down to see Pam’s family. Last week, I searched through Strong’s Concordance to read everything concerning the reign of God.
No scripture says that God reigns on the earth. Most of the 168 times that “reign” appears, it’s referring to earthly kings. And when it refers to God’s reigning on earth, it’s always in the future tense. It’s “He shall reign”, “He shall reign”, over and over…. in Psalms, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah… and finally in The Revelation.
The Bible calls Him “The God of Heaven”, but never “the God of Earth.” When Adam sinned, Satan became the god of this world. We know this from the Word and from personal observation. God’s present reign on earth is only in the hearts of His children.
So the Buna sign is right. God does reign…in heaven…but not on earth… not yet.
